Tyrone Johnson is the Director of Vehicle Development for Genesis Motor Europe. In this role, Tyrone leads the rigorous testing and development programme for all Genesis vehicles in Europe, at the Technical Center in Russelsheim, Germany.
Working in tandem with Genesis Headquarters in Korea, Tyrone has been fine-tuning all Genesis vehicles ahead of their European debut this summer. Tyrone and his team have carefully developed and tested each Genesis model, with tens of thousands of kilometres covered across 15 countries on some of Europe’s toughest and challenging roads, and of course, the legendary Nürburgring circuit.
Having joined Ford directly out of University, Tyrone has over 35 years’ experience in the automotive industry. While at Ford he had assignments in the USA, Europe and China, spanning most aspects of automotive industry. This ranged from suspension development lead for the Mondeo, Chief engineer for European Ford Racing including Formula One and World Rallying, program management of the C-car platform with Mazda and Volvo, and development lead for Ford Performance on such vehicles as the Fiesta ST and Focus RS.
Tyrone is fluent in both German and English, holding both passports, and in his spare time enjoys football and mountain biking, and most things technical.
