Frankfurt, Germany: The G70 saloon, G70 Shooting Brake and GV70 SUV from Genesis Motor Europe have all been awarded a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating.

The G70 and GV70, which both went on sale in the summer, and the G70 Shooting Brake which arrived last month, all secured the maximum five-star rating from Euro NCAP, Europe’s leading independent safety testing organisation.

The news follows top ratings for the G80 saloon and GV80 SUV back in May of this year, which means than the full European range is now five-star Euro NCAP rated.

Against Euro NCAP’s criteria, both the Genesis G70 and GV70 scored highly against the key NCAP assessment areas: Adult Occupant, Child Occupant, Vulnerable Road Users and Safety Assist. Notably, the areas of Adult Occupant Safety and Child Occupant Safety performed well during testing with scores of 89% and 87%

Full list of results in each assessment area can be viewed below.

In crash testing, Euro NCAP praised the impact stability and protection afforded by the passenger compartment of G70 and GV70 during the side barrier test, with all cars scoring maximum points. G70 and GV70 also scored highly for child occupant protection. Seat and head restraint tests demonstrated good passenger protection against whiplash injury in the event of a rear-end collision, with the brand’s patented centre airbag scoring highly for helping to protect the driver and front passenger in the event of a side impact.

In the Safety Assist category, Euro NCAP recognized Genesis for its many advanced driver safety systems; in particular, the Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Driver Attention Warning (DAW) and Lane Keep Assist (LKA) systems scored highly across the board. A list of Genesis advanced safety systems can be found below with their function and accompanying acronym.

Dominique Boesch, Managing Director for Genesis Motor Europe, commented: “We are very proud to achieve a five-star Euro NCAP rating right across our complete European line-up. To be awarded the highest possible rating demonstrates our clear commitment to first class safety systems for European customers.

“Euro NCAP is well-known globally and has long been trusted by customers to provide independent and impartial safety advice. For Genesis to score a maximum five-star rating again this year following the first round of results in May, is testament to the breadth of both active and passive safety assistance technologies that Genesis offers.”

With 10 airbags, and over 20+ driver assistance systems, the Genesis G70 and GV70 offer impressive levels of driver-assistance technologies including High-Beam Assist (HBA), Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM), Forward Collision Avoidance (FCA), Smart Cruise Control (SCC) and Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA).
