  • Genesis’ first dedicated electric model, built on bespoke E-GMP platform, fought off competition from over 80 competitors

Frankfurt, Germany, 5 December 2023: Today, Genesis GV60 continued its winning formula, following German Car of the Year and Swiss Car of the Year success last year, as it was awarded “2024 China SUV of the Year” at the China Car of the Year Awards. The Genesis GV60 is the brand’s first all-electric car based on the E-GMP (Electric-Globular Modular Platform) and has brought a superior driving experience to Chinese customers with its thrilling performance and innovative technology, since its official launch in March of this year and to European customers since Spring 2022.

Wells Lee, CEO of Genesis Motor China said, “As an outstanding luxury electric SUV, the Genesis GV60 has won numerous awards in markets around the world since its launch. Today’s China Car of the Year award proves that the GV60’s achievements in design, performance and technology have also been fully recognised by the Chinese market and industry experts.”

The China Car of the Year Awards is one of the most authoritative awards in China’s automotive industry. Co-sponsored by the editors-in-chief of the country’s leading automotive magazines, more than 40 automotive media participated in this year’s evaluation process, selecting the Genesis GV60 from a pool of more than 80 competing models. Winning such a coveted award in China is a significant milestone given the number of homegrown electric brands.

The Genesis GV60 extends the brand’s “Athletic Elegance” design concept, setting a new benchmark for the segment through meticulous detailing and emotionally resonant design. Equipped with a powerful 77.4 kWh lithium battery, GV60 delivers exceptional range of up to 691 kilometers on a single charge and is capable of being charged at up to 360KW, allowing a 10-80% charge in just 18 minutes.

Through state-of-the-art technologies including Digital Key 2 convenience feature that provides a truly keyless experience, its powerful biometric recognition systems, and the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) that come standard on all Genesis vehicles, the Genesis GV60 is committed to providing comfort, convenience and innovation.

The GV60 has already won numerous awards around the world including the German Red Dot Product Design Award 2022 and Best Electric SUV at the 2023 What Car? Awards in the UK too.  This award marks the second time that Genesis has been honoured at the China Car of the Year Awards since entering the market three years ago, after the Genesis G80 was awarded “2022 Design Car of the Year”.
